Well I feel bad I didn't really say much about Caleb's birthday. He turned 3 on April 22nd. It is hard to believe he is so big now. He is in the midst of potty training and some days does better than others. I think he probably would have gotten the hang of it awhile ago but having a mom who is pregnant and then taking care of a newborn and doesn't have the time or energy to be consistent putting you on the potty probably doesn't help. This last year from 2-3 has been an incredible year for Caleb. It is amazing the changes that occur in toddlers and how quickly they go from seeming so little and babylike to being so big and grown up. Caleb was always on the fast end for physical milestones (crawled at 7-8 months, walked at 10-10.5 months, etc...) but was on the slow end for talking (he always said a few words) but then at 20 months or so he really took off. He started saying everything! Well once he started he just wouldn't stop and he hasn't stopped learning since. Here is a list of what Caleb has learned this past year!!!
Shapes (basic ones by 2, more advanced 2-2.5)
Colors by 2
Numbers 1-10 at 2 years
Numbers 10-20 at about 3 years
Alphabet - at about 2-2.5 (both upper and lower case)
States 2.5-3 (he knows about 10 states)
Spanish numbers 1-5 or 6 at 3 years
Which primary colors make secondary colors (about 2.5 years)
He also started sleeping in a big boy bed this last fall at about 2.5 years, he has learned the country, state, city, and street that he lives on and he is learning some phone numbers. He has also started recognizing more words and always wants us to spell things to him.
It has been so fun watching his little mind learning and figuring things out. He is a bright little guy and seems to soak up knowledge. I wish my mind would do the same:)
Well that is an update on my little man and his progress this last year. I can't wait to see what he learns in the next 12 months! Hopefully he won't surpass his mommy in intelligence by the age of 4.
